History
The Department was founded in 2004, and affiliated with the College ofHumanities and Social Sciences. The course is designed to meet the needs of social work professionals in a rapidly changing world. In the spirit of helping disadvantaged people, the Department educates and prepares students to serve the community as their long-term career.
Educational Objectives
- To cultivate a professional ethos of caring service for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in society and to foster a new breed of social workers who are animated by concern for social justice.
- To provide a fulfilling professional education with hands-on experience in real life situations.
- To inculcate and reinforce professional values, standards and ethics in students who will attain a high standard of knowledge, skills and competence to meet the fresh and increasing challenges of new demographics in today's social work.
